Czech Republic / Austria: The last day in Czech Republic

Nada and me were spending our last day in Beer Republic or officially Czech Republic. After the breakfast we visited a few more attractions in Prague and in the afternoon we visited Petr in his second home, beer garden Riegrovy sady. Few Pilsners and we had to move on to the bus station where FLiXBUS picked us up, destination Celovec.

We were passing by St. Norbert Church (Kostel sv. Norberta) towards Cathedral of St Lawrence and Petřín Lookout Tower.

 

We decided to visit the Petřín Lookout Tower, a steel-framework tower.

When you are standing on the top of the Petřín Lookout Tower, you are higher than if you were on the more famous Eiffel Tower.

Amazing view to Prague and Vltava.

In 1889, members of the Club of Czech Tourists visited the world exposition in Paris and were inspired by the Eiffel Tower. They collected a sufficient amount of money and in March 1891 the building of the tower started for the World's Jubilee Exhibition. It was finished in only four months.

The two observation platforms are accessible via 299 stairs in sections of 13 per flight running around the inside of the structure. A pair of staircases form a double-helix structure allowing visitors travelling up and down concurrently.

On a clear day it is possible to see the highest peak in the Czech Republic, Sněžka, 150km away.

After a few beers in the Rieger Gardens (Riegrovy sady) with our friends, we entered the bus, direction South.

Our vacation in Czech Republic ended.
